The Chery Cowin 2 is one of the oldest cars on the Chinese market. It is based on the very first Seat Toledo, Chery bought the tooling when production ended in Spain and brought everything to China. The Cowin 2 gets a small facelift so it can live another century.

The Cowin 2 got a new grille, new headlights, new rear lights and a new dashboard. Engine doesn’t change; still the good old 1.5 with 109hp and 140nm. Won’t race, but it won’t break either. Price of the current car starts at 47.800 yuan and ends at 52.800 yuan, prices for the new car will be almost the same if not cheaper. The facelifted Cowin 2 will be listed early next month.

Wow, they are still making this deathtrap, man this product had brought them shame and bad reputation, and not to mention the fact that after that horrific crash test, nobody in their right mind would buy Chinese cars.
Seems Jackson that no one is yet looking out for the Chinese consumer, and so this, and cars like the Geely CK, continue to find buyers among the mass of uninformed Chinese consumers.
I looked at the unusual rear hatch of this model and wondered how it would withstand a collision,roll over, etc.
As for for Chery’s naming of these Cowins, Qiyuns, Fulwins, and Eastars, it really gets confusing. Can’t help but wonder when Chery will rationalize its model lineup?
@ Dragin. You are completely right. Chery is making a mess of its lineup with exactly the same cars selling under two or three different names. And the end of this seems not yet in sight… Confusing it is indeed.
