The upcoming Skoda Rapid has been spotted testing in China, it will hit the China auto market next year, debut is expected for the April 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. The Rapid will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture.
The Skoda Rapid it is based on the same PQ25 platform that underpins the new Shanghai-Volkswagen Santana and the new Volkswagen Jetta which will be made by FAW-Volkswagen. Volkswagen is beginning to look like Chery with all these similar and similar priced small sedans… Engines for the China-made Rapid: 1.2 TFSI and 1.4 TFSI.
Price will start around 80.000 yuan, slightly more expensive than the Jetta which will cover the cheap end of the range. Yup, that’s a Volkswagen going cheap and a Skoda going expensive, what happened to this world?
