Spotted in China: Mazda 929

A very rare fifth generation Mazda 929 sedan seen on da streets in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. The 5th gen 929 was made from 1991 until 1996 and never exported to China, some cars however arrived via diplomatic channels or the gray market.

The Mazda 929 was an incredible advanced vehicle for its time, it was available with 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, ABS and a solar-panel sunroof. There were two engines available: a 160hp 2.5 V6 and a 205hp 3.0 V6. Sadly, the sleekly designed Mazda 929 never really got a successor, leaving the 5th gen as the last of the truly luxury Mazda’s.
