Spy shots of a Foton Tunland pickup truck testing in India, seen in the great city of Pune by a sharp-eyed reader of IndianAutosBlog.com. Foton is a subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC), making pickup trucks and other commercial vehicles.
The Tunland is already exported to Australia, South Africa, and several markets in the Middle East. The appearance of a Tunland in Pune indicates BAIC is planning export to India too, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
The Foton Tunland. Price ranges from 137.000 yuan to 148.800 yuan. Power comes from a Cummins 2.8 liter turbo diesel with 130hp and 360nm, mated to a 5-speed manual. BAIC is also working on a new 2.0 turbo that will be used in the Tunland and in the upcoming ‘U201 SUV’, which is based on the Tunland.
