The ix25 will be manufactured in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture to compete with cars such as the popular Ford Ecosport and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. The ix25 is based on the platform of the Kia Soul, which is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture.

New news on the engines: earlier on we heard the Hyundai ix25 would be powered by a 1.6 and a 1.4, both mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The latest reports however indicate the ix25 will get 1.6 and a 2.0, mated to a 6-speed manual. We are not so sure as the 2.0 seems an engine too large for the ix25. Hyundai hasn’t officially confirmed anything on the engines yet. We will keep you posted…
