New spy shots of the MG CS SUV, seen here all-naked in orange standing on a flatbed trailer in China. The MG CS will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September and launch on the China car market in Q4. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 160.000 yuan ($19.000 – 26.000).

Engine chat: still a confusing picture here with many conflicting reports. Early on we heard the MG CS would be available with a 135hp 1.5 turbo and a 204hp 2.0 turbo, both mated to a 6-speed DCT. Recent reports in Chinese media revealed a much larger line of engines: 1.3, 1.4 turbo (developed with GM), 1.5, and the 1.5 turbo.

The very latest reports however indicate 1.5 and 1.5 turbo only, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. A 2.0 turbo seems to large for a car the size of the CS, and the high-tech 1.4 turbo is probably too expensive for the segment where the CS will compete.

  1. Wow! Looks nothing like the concept at all. Looks just like a SannYong or whatever that korean brand car it is being created from is called. The concept had its own style. This is nothing but another Korean car with a british badge on it.

    • Ssangyong does not have a car of this size. It is actually based on the MG5/6 platform and thus is a true home-grown MG.
People being unnecessarily negative towards MG/Roewe with blatantly untrue ‘facts’ are the trolls of the automotive world.

  2. Something tells me Headhoncho needs glasses. Nothing like the concept? Exactly the same at the back especially. Just like a Sangyong? Really!

  3. its really sad that people such as Head Honcho have nothing better to do in there lives than become a internet troll. if you have a valid point then please make it otherwise dont try and belittle other because of your own shortcomings.
if you had bothered to look at the testing spyshots you would see its actually a lot closer to the original concept than most manufacturers dare to do.
do you homework before making pathetic inaccurate postings.
