The very first and so far only Spy Shot of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia testing in China. One black car was seen on the road, only slightly camouflaged and with a temporarily license plate behind the rear window.

The sighting indicated the Giulia will be marketed in China at some time in the future but when is yet uncertain. Local production at the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture is very well possible, especially since cars of the entire competition are manufactured in China already. Guangzhou-Firat currently makes the Jeep Renegade, the Jeep Cherokee, the Fiat Ottimo, and the Fiat Viaggio.

Bringing the Giulia to China won’t be cheap in any way, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is always short on cash. Alfa Romeo would need a dealer network, as they don’t have any now.  Then they would need a massive marketing campaign, because besides the usual enthusiasts nobody knows what an Alfa Romeo is.

The Italians tried it before. Back in 2011 the brand announced it was coming to China, we saw some test cars, but in the end nothing happened. Better luck this time around (?).
