A wondrous white Alfa Romeo 156 Selespeed, Spotted in China just outside the Fourth Ring Road in central Beijing, looking very clean and shiny for its age. The beautiful 156 was manufactured from 1997 until 2007 with facelifts in 2002 and in 2003, this particular car is an original pre-facelift example.
The 156 was never officially exported to China so how this Italian beauty ended up in the capital is somewhat of a mystery. It is a very rare car on Chinese roads, this is in fact the very first one we have seen.

A fantastic Alfa Romeo 166, Spotted in China in the Beijing Tuning Street, looking absolutely stunning in Alfa Red. As it happens, I was just there when the vehicle arrived, its beautiful lines playing with the early summer sun. And out came a Chinese man looking so incredible extremely utterly cool, wearing black trousers an all, that I almost disappeared.

The brand launched with much fanfare on the 2011 Guangzhou Auto Show but didn’t follow up with any actual cars.

This great discovery comes only weeks after reader Ali Khalili met a red 916 GTV in the Capital. The Spider was made from 1995 until 2006 and never officially exported to China, but a very few cars made it to Chinese shores via the grey market or diplomatic channels. Read more »

The Italians take their time, Alfa applied for Chinese patent on the Giulietta back in November 2010 and the Alfa Romeo brand officially debuted in China at the 2011 Guangzhou Auto Show, since then not a single Alfa Romeo has hit the market.
