Chery has launched the eQ1 electric car on the Chinese market, just days after the company filed a trademark complaint against Mercedes-Benz. The Germans want to use the EQ name for an EV-sub brand, but Chery has been using the eQ EV brand since 2014. Their first car was the eQ and now we have the new eQ1.

The Chery eQ has been launched on the Chinese car market. The Chery eQ is an electric vehicle based on the Chery QQ minicar. Price including all green-car subsidies starts at 59.800 yuan and ends at 64.800 yuan. Price without subsidies would start at a hefty 150.000 yuan, making absolutely sure nobody would buy one. The total subsidy is thus 90.200 yuan, showing once more how serious China is about promoting the use of electric cars.

This is the new Chery EQ, a new full-electric vehicle based on the new Chery QQ. The Chery EQ will be launched on the China car market in the second half of this year. Power will come from an electric motor with a very decent 56hp. Price for the Chery EQ will start around 80.000 yuan but subsidies of central and local governments can bring that down to some 50.000 yuan.
