New spy shots from the new Chang’an Yuexiang testing in China. Chinese media are quick to compare the new car with the Mazda 3, which is made in China by the Chang’an-Mazda joint venture. Indeed both vehicles seem to look a lot alike.
Interestingly these new spy shots show a very different car than earlier spy shots we saw from the new Yuexiang. Those shots showed a facelift, these new shots show a completely new car.

The Chang’an Yuexiang always was a rather boring sedan. Quality fine, price good, but nothing special. Since about a year however Chang’an has been busy to spice it up it bit and the results are nice. The Yuexiang suddenly looked a whole lot more sporty and sales went up. According to these spy shots, the next facelift will make things even better.

The Chang’an Yuexiang S is a sporty version of the standard Yuexiang. Only difference is the rather good looking body kit, there is no extra power which likely means the S is actually slower than the standard car due to the extra weight. But who cares? , cars are all about the way they look.

Chinese automaker Chang’an will launch a very special version of its Yuexiang sedan, the Yuexiang 3G. As the name indicates the Yuexiang 3G is all about wireless 3G connectivity. It has a terminal for GPS, anti-theft, a ‘traffic accident alarm’, an entertainment system, email, telephone and ‘information services’.

The normal Chan’an Yuexiang is a cheap and rather boring car. It comes as a hatch and a sedan and costs 55.9oo and 71.900 rmb. Chang’ans know the car ain’t that sexy so decided to spice it up with this ‘S’-model. It will hit la market this month, no info on the engine so likely its the same 1.5 with 72kw and 137nm as in the standard car. In China this kind of ‘sporty’ updates is sadly usually for the eyes only.
