New spy shots from the upcoming SouEast V5 sedan, it will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April and it will be listed on the China car market in June, price will range from 70.000 to 100.000 yuan. See below for the first pics of the interior.
Platform comes from an old Mitsubishi Galant, power from a Mitsubishi-sourced 1.8 with 144hp and 178nm, mated to a CVT. SouEast has access to all this Mitsubishi-tech thanks to the SouEast-Mitsubishi joint venture that makes various Mitsubishi’s for the Chinese market, including the Lancer and the (new) Galant. Size: 4560/1765/1435mm，wheelbase is 2620mm.
Interior very neat. Big screen again. Vents low in the center console, thanks to that screen. Automatic gearbox here. Sporty dials.
The V5 will be the first self-designed SouEast. Earlier SouEast-branded cars were all rebadges old Mitsubishi’s. A big step indeed and a difficult one because the V5 steps right in one of the hottest contested segments of the Chinese car market. Most competition is local with offerings from Geely, Chery and BYD. There is international competition too, in the same price range but those are mostly smaller cars.
