Spy Shots: new FAW Junpai SUV for China

Spy Shots showing a new FAW Junpai SUV, scheduled to hit the Chinese car market in late 2015. ‘Junpai’ is a new brand under the First Auto Works (FAW) umbrella. Their first car, the Junpai D60 SUV, was launched last week. The new SUV, code named R20, will be manufactured by FAW-Jilin, a FAW subsidiary based in the great city of Jilin in Jilin Province.

Large LCD screen in the center console. Key-starter. Power will come from four-cylinder petrol engines; a 1.5 with 103hp and a 1.8 with 139hp, both mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, sending power to the front wheels only. These engines are also used in the Junpai D60, which is a smaller vehicle, so the R20 won’t be very fast. Price will start around 75.000 yuan and end around 105.000 yuan.

“……will be manufactured by Tianjin-Jilin, a FAW subsidiary based in the great city of Jilin in Jilin Province.”

A little confusing…..Tianjin and Jilin City are some 1,000 km. apart. As far as I know the first Junpai, the D60, is built in Tianjin.

Indeed. Junpai is a new FAW brand, and it appears the various FAW subs will make various Junpai-branded vehicles. A step forward from the days, until now basically, that they all made their own sub-branded cars.
