Aston Martin will launch ‘Dragon 88’ special editions for the booming Chinese luxury car market. ‘Dragon’ for the Year of the Dragon and ’88’ is a very lucky number in China. It ain’t a very special one though because customers can order the Dragon 88 treatment on three different cars; the DBS, Virage and Vantage S. According to Chinese sources there are 88 examples of each available, making this a total limited edition of 264 cars.
Special features: ‘Dragon 88’ logo’s on the door sills. Handmade 24K gold-plated Aston Martin logos on the engine cover, bonnet and back. Embroidered dragons on the seat’s head rests. Three bespoke exterior colors: amethyst red, volcanic red and thick champagne. Three bespoke interior colors: spicy red, thick purple and Prime Minister red. Special 10-spoke alloys. No word yet on price but is sure will be very expensive. The Dragon 88’s will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April.
The Aston Martin Dragon 88 edition is a project very similar to the Rolls Royce Phantom Dragon Edition that debuted on the Guangzhou Auto Show in December last year and was completely sold out in early January.
Lay your head against a dragon, and drive.
